First unveiled in October 1986 and officially launched in 1987, the Omega Symbol line stands out as one of the brand’s most intriguing creations. More than a watch, it was conceived as a cultural statement, drawing inspiration from timeless symbols:
- The Ankh (Egypt) – key of life and immortality, gateway to Eternity.
- Yin & Yang (China) – perfect unity, balance, universal harmony.
- The Sun – prime mover of existence, eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth.
Behind this poetic vision lies Omega’s technical savoir-faire: the ultra-slim quartz calibre 1436, housed in gold or two-tone steel-and-gold cases, water-resistant to 30m. Distinctive white “Key of the Nile” hands, sapphire crystal, and strap or bracelet options complete the design.
Born from an idea by Fernando Fontana of the Lascor case factory, and developed by Pierre-André Aellen, Omega’s Head of Product, the Symbol represents a unique crossroad between philosophy, culture, and fine watchmaking.
